Set in the ski-resort town of Whistler, this 6,025-square-foot vacation home was inspired by the mountain landscape and designed for entertaining. Giant windows showcase the outdoor scenery, while the material palette reflects natural elements: concrete, glass, stone and bleached-white oak. Nothing is shiny; it feels as natural inside as out.

The wood soffit continues into the ceilings to break up the expansive interior and add texture and warmth. The kitchen, living, dining and family rooms are one big, open-concept gathering place. An oversized Arco dining table (white oak top and concrete base) and Wishbone chairs extend the palette and create a dinner/party zone.

We ground the open space with black accents: flamed and honed granite countertops and a panel fireplace surround made of stone, metal and stained wood. A Flag Halyard chair and vintage Moroccan rug add more texture and character, as do side table stumps with leather strap handles.

Upstairs, the master bedroom’s clerestory windows allow for both light and privacy while framing mountain views from the bed (a hanging chair is also positioned for prime gazing). The white oak flooring continues up the wall behind the bed, adding to the modern, mountain-retreat look. Luxury touches like a two-sided fireplace add to the effect. A spa-like freestanding tub crowned with plant-filled Bocci lights accentuate the nature-first approach.

Completed 2017

Working with Denise and the team at Project 22 was so great that I actually went back for more.  And then thought, why not, one more time.   We’ve worked on various projects together and with their circle of expertise they were able to guide me through a design process from beginning to end, help me with my indecisiveness, and allowed me to achieve the space & vision that I was looking for.      P22D…you rock.    Tiz & Luch
