This apartment renovation was the clients’ dream project and came with a detailed list of requirements and materials for the 960-square-foot space. The desired material palette stemmed from the clients’ love of walnut and mid-century modern design.
We installed hard-wearing oak floors in a neutral grey to reflect light and make the small space feel larger. The grey carries into the kitchen with matte, concrete-hued Caesarstone counters and a waterfall side that connects seamlessly to the floor.
Adding a dropped ceiling—in the entry, kitchen, hallway to bedroom and office— allowed us to add recessed lighting to delineate workspaces from entertaining spaces.
An oval Saarinen table acts as a focal point to soften the linear space and further reflect the light. Other white, low-sheen lacquer elements include custom millwork in the bedroom and cabinet bases in the kitchen—both contrasted with walnut.
A projection TV turns the living room into a home-theatre space but is tucked away when not in use. The office converts into a guest room with a sleek Murphy bed, custom-fitted to the full height of the wall so it disappears when not in use.
Everything has its place, designed for highly efficient, multi-functional small-space living.

Our project involved the complete renovation of our condominium. We came into the project with several years’ worth of ideas, and it was important for us to be very involved in the design process. To bring our ideas to life, we needed guidance from someone knowledgeable and experienced, but also flexible and unthreatened by client input. After interviewing several design firms, we selected P22D based on their exceptional previous work and our comfort with Denise. The design team at P22D guided us through each phase of the process, providing multiple options and invaluable practical advice as we worked towards a complete design package containing every detail. Denise was generous with her time, and was very patient with us and our questions throughout the process. Additionally, even though she was not contracted to do so, Denise remained involved throughout the construction and decoration of the condo. We love our renovated home and strongly recommend that you consider P22D for your interior design project- Ian & Sean
